The electronic certificate of incapacity for work (eAU), which has been mandatory since the beginning of the year, is now well known. Employers no longer receive the certificate of incapacity for work from the employee who has statutory health insurance, but must call up the certificate electronically from the responsible health insurance company after the employee has informed them of their incapacity for work.

It is less well known that the employment certificate and EU employment certificate (§ 316 SGB III) can only be sent electronically to the responsible job center when an employment relationship ends. The employer can use payroll accounting software for this purpose or use the electronic filling-in aid "sv.net". The Federal Employment Agency sends the employee a copy of the form for their own records.

Important:

When submitting the certificate of employment electronically, the employer must observe certain data protection regulations. Either an electronic completion aid or a system-tested software program is to be used. Sending the certificate as a PDF by email is not permitted.
